30th June - support the strikes

The civil servants, teachers and lecturers will strike on 30th June to fight against attacks on their pensions, jobs and pay by the coalition government.

The government wants to raise everyone's pension age to 68, lower its value by paying less interest on it and make government employees double their pension contributions despite the fact they will be working longer and getting a smaller pension.

On top of this 600,000 public sector jobs and 700,000 private sector jobs are threatened by the cuts and the government has imposed a pay freeze on public sector workers.

The cuts are affecting us all, with the most vulnerable being hit the hardest, and the 30th June will be the first co-ordinated strike actionn against these policies. Strike action can stop the cuts so it's essential that everyone who opposes the cuts supports these strikes in whatever way we can.
